General Range Rules

Review the essential safety requirements before using Wyoming Antelope Club public shooting facilities.

Before You Approach the Firing Line

These four requirements apply at all times.

Range Officer Authority 5 rules

No shooting is permitted on any range unless a Range Officer is present and in control.
All shooters and guests must follow Range Officer commands immediately.
Any firearm deemed unsafe by the Range Officer shall be encased and removed from the range.
Any person exhibiting a lack of due care or proficiency may be ordered to cease fire and leave the range.
Rapid or uncontrolled fire is not permitted, as judged by the Range Officer.

Public Line Rules 5 rules

Shotguns are not permitted on the public lines.
All racking of slides or opening of cylinders must be performed with muzzles pointed downrange.
All center-fire firearms capable of being shouldered must be fired from the sitting position.
All firearms must have sights or optics installed when used on the public line.
Firing cadence must not exceed one shot every two seconds.

Personal Safety 5 rules

Ear and eye protection are mandatory for anyone on the concrete pad when the line is hot.
Closed-toe shoes are required. Sandals and flip-flops are not permitted.
Low-cut collars or necklines that could allow hot brass to enter clothing are prohibited.
Hats are recommended but not required.
Absolutely no alcohol is allowed on the range. This includes any person under the influence of alcohol. Alcohol is allowed only within the clubhouse.

Firing Line Safety 5 rules

Muzzles must be pointed in a safe direction at all times.
Firearms must be encased while moving from the firing position.
No person may go forward of the concrete pad or firing line while the line is hot.
Persons not firing shall not be on the firing line, except for spotters, coaches, and adults supervising minors.
No smoking is permitted in front of the yellow line.

Minors & Supervision 5 rules

All persons under the age of 18 require immediate adult supervision while shooting.
The supervising adult must remain within arm's length of the minor shooter.
The supervising adult may not shoot from another position while supervising a minor.
The Range Officer has final authority to determine whether a minor has the experience necessary to fire a rifle or handgun.
There is no minimum age for shooting at our range.

Targets & Equipment 5 rules

No exploding targets or tracer ammunition are allowed.
No human silhouette targets may be used during club operating hours unless sold by the Club.
Only one paper target is allowed per frame. Multiple bullseye targets are permitted.
Purposeful destruction of frames or facilities will not be tolerated.
A minimum penalty of $25.00 may be assessed for purposeful destruction of club facilities.

Black Powder 3 rules

Range Conduct 5 rules

No profanity. WAC is a family-friendly facility and welcomes junior shooters.
No guns are allowed to be put out for sale at any of our ranges.
No civilian shall wear a holstered handgun, except during specific action pistol events or by uniformed law enforcement personnel.
Shooters may only retrieve their own brass.
Be mindful of ejected brass and ensure it strikes the safety barriers whenever possible.

Cease Fire Courtesy 3 rules

During the two-minute warning, shooters should begin collecting brass and preparing the line for the next cease-fire period.
When the line is cold, do not handle firearms, magazines, ammunition, or equipment on the firing bench.
Wait for Range Officer instructions before going downrange or returning to the firing line.
